What you need
- A registered disinfectant suitable for salon tools
- A covered soaking container and brushes for cleaning
- Clean, covered storage
Procedure
Clean first
Remove hair and debris, then wash tools with detergent and warm water. Disinfectant doesn’t work through dirt.
Mix the disinfectant correctly
Mix it as the label says and change it as often as the label says, or sooner if it is dirty.
Soak for the full contact time
Submerge tools fully for the time on the label.
Caution: Wear gloves, and never mix disinfectants or add other chemicals.
Treat electrical tools
Brush clipper blades clean, then spray or wipe with a disinfectant made for them.
Rinse, dry and store
Rinse if the label says, dry fully and store in a clean, covered container.
Throw away single-use items
Files, buffers, wax sticks and razors that can’t be disinfected are used once and thrown away.
Records
- The solution change log.
