Common questions

What should a fitness instructor induction cover?

Their certifications and insurance before the first shift, then the facility, the emergency and incident procedures, the equipment, the member systems and your class standard. It ends with an observed class and a check-in, so you know they can run a session safely on their own.

Do contractors and casual instructors need an induction?

Yes. Anyone who teaches on your floor needs to know the exits, the first aid kit, the AED and how to report an incident, whether they’re employed or not. Contractors may skip payroll steps, but never the safety ones.

How long does an instructor induction take?

The safety items happen on the first shift. Shadowing, systems training and an observed class usually fit in the first week, and the full induction is signed off at the end of the first month.

Can Wikidoc run instructor inductions?

Yes. Record your class standard, the equipment checks and the emergency procedures once, and Wikidoc drafts each SOP. Put them in a training program for the instructor role, and every new instructor is enrolled automatically, with a quiz on each module.
